The evening news for years has been dominated by weather forecasts. Your local news is 30 minutes, minus commercials and promos there is less than 20 minutes and they spend on average talking five minutes about the weather.
Mark Twain people talk about the weather but no one ever does anything about it. Mr. Clemmons didn’t live in the days of television.
We had a thunderstorm warning today in Palm Beach County. It’s May, It’s Florida, It’s summer(It is here compared to most of the country), and late afternoon thunderstorms are the norm.
Half tonight’s news was about the rain. One piece was about a big puddle of water in Port St. Lucie. It’s deep and you better not drive through it they told us. It would help if they said where in Pt. St. Lucie this puddle was. But no they didn’t.
Then there was the shot of the overturned Port-O-Potty.
If its not death and destruction, the news is the weather, American Idol or Michael Jackson. Almost makes you want to watch Gilligan’s Island repeats.
